Free v Paid Online Dating Sites
You know the saying? "Never look a gift horse in the mouth"
Never was a truer word spoken. Just because an online dating site says it's free, it can (and usually does) work out very expensive in both time, effort and money.
The reasons a free online dating site can be expensive
Free online dating sites can be expensive in nurmerous ways.
They are littered with adverts which, should you click on them, will earn the online dating site money. This is how they make part of their online revenue.
The dating site is quite often very badly laid out thus increasing your frustration which leads to you clicking on an ad thereby increasing their revenue yet again. Not only that but there's usually little or no recourse should you have a complaint.
There's usually no one to moderate the dating site, it's a free for all, meaning that it attracts all sorts of undesirables including scammers who'll use your email address to try and con you out of money, you may have come across the sort of scam that I'm talking about already - the nigerian who needs to get his/her money out of the country but for some feasible sounding reason needs you to put it in your bank account first. Don't fall for that one, it's just a way to get you to give out your bank account details so that they can access your account and relieve you of your money. There are plenty more of that type of scam around and unfortunately, with no one to look after the dating site, this sort of leech will get through all the time, it's amazing how many people don't know that particular scam! Another favourite with the scammers is the "mail-order bride" scenario.
Should you be tempted to sign up to a free newsletter or give them your email address in exchange for the promise of a free ebook or gift, don't be surprised if you suddenly find yourself bombarded with spam, it could be anything from "you've won" for a competition you've never heard of, to ads for viagra or any other commercial. It may start slowly but rest assured it will increase until you have no choice but to start afresh with a new email address. This is yet another way that free dating sites make money off you, by selling your email address to third parties, and there are plenty of sites who have no scruples whatsoever about doing just that as long as it makes them a quick buck.
These so called free online dating sites aren't the slightest bit interested in whether you find the right person for you or not. They're only in it for the quick buck they can make off you as quickly as possible.
Just think for a moment
Do you not think that finding your perfect date is worth some monetary input from you? Personally, I wouldn't want to go out with someone who's so cheap that they couldn't be bothered to put their hand in their pocket and spend say $10 or $20 joining a legitimate online dating site to find a suitable partner. Can you imagine the first date!!
Now, I don't know about you but don't you think your time is worth more than sifting through piles of c**p and false profiles? I'd rather spend a few bucks and get it all done automatically, then all I need do is filter out the most interesting profiles and take it from there.
Generally I've found that once someone has invested some money joining an online dating site they'll be more likely to be the genuine article and not a time waster.
